The baby boom generation--the first ever with a majority of the women in the labor force--has worked hard to build the American economy. Forward-looking employers are beginning to recognize the value of recruiting and retaining over-55 employees, who exhibit stability, mature judgment and a strong work ethic in their jobs.
Today, most people over 55 see themselves continuing to work past age 65, but often not in the same line of work they are doing today. Some want work that is meaningful and offers the flexibility to pursue other important parts of their lives. Others need work that pays well enough to meet day-to-day needs. A major need for all under-65 boomer workers: health care benefits.
